School of Visual & Performing Arts

The Theatre program at McKinley is unparalleled. Class offerings include introduction to theatre, advanced theatre,  musical theatre, stagecraft, and talented theatre.  All theatre classes pack the house multiple times a year in McKinley’s state-of-the-art Lynn Whitfield Theatre for Performing Arts, Our Black Box Theatre, and our outdoor amphitheatre. In addition to on-campus performances, our mustangs perform at community events and venues as well as national festivals. Every year we attend the Louisiana Thespian Festival and regularly place at the state and national level.  McKinley performances are not to be missed!
We also have an up and coming film program that produced films  that have recieved Film of the Year awards in the EBR film Festival and the Film Prize Jr. film festival.  

Mr. Shane Stewart, Ms. Kaitlyn Stockwell, Ms. Joni Bankston, and Mr. Wil Thomas are dedicated to teaching students everything they need to know to succeed both educationally and professionally in all fields of theatre and film
