Upon arriving to work to make the Spring 2016 semester a blast, McKinley Middle's teachers put great effort into working cooperatively as a team and shaping up to shape future leaders! The following videos showcase teachers working out to collect as many cups as possible in order to build the highest tower. Enjoy!
McKinley Middle attended the Louisiana Thespian conference on January 29th and 30th. The LTC is a yearly conference where high schools from across the state come together to compete against one another in competitions where they perform monologues, scenes, musical numbers, and other performances. Despite being younger than the high school attendees, four of our students competed against and placed higher than any students from the 25 high schools in attendance. In the category of Duet Acting, Gwendolyn Roland and Parker Guarisco placed second overall, and Makaylee Secrest and Gwyneth Allison placed FIRST! All four received superior ratings for their perfomances and were invited to compete at the national level in Lincoln, Nebraska at the National Thespian Conference in late July.
On February 1st and 2nd Nationally Renowned Playwright Don Zolidis visited the campus of MMAM. He personally taught the students of Mr. Stewart's Playwriting class and select students from Mrs. E. Thomas' theathre classes about playwriting. Don Zolidis' plays have been seen at numerous theatres around the country, including The Purple Rose Theatre, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Bloomington Playwright's Project, and many others. His plays for young people are among the most produced in the country and have received more than 7,500 productions. It was a rare opportunity to study under such a prestigious and well known playwright. McKinley Middle is glad to have welcomed him to our campus.
